Job Purpose

Lecturing Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy in the Senior Phase & Further Education and Training (SP & FET) Phase Department.

Please NoteThe Teacher Education programme at our Wellington Campus is taught in Afrikaans. Except for lecturers who teach languages other than Afrikaans, lecturers need to be able to teach/lecture in Afrikaans

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A relevant Master’s degree in Administrator
  • A relevant teaching qualification
  • Mathematics as a major subject at undergraduate level
  • At least two (2) years’ relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years’ relevant teaching experience in the SP & FET Phase at school level
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience in the preparation and evaluation of meaningful teaching experiences for SP & FET Phase students
  • Experience and knowledge of support and differentiated teaching for learners experiencing barriers to learning related to Mathematics
  • Fluency in English and Afrikaans (BEd tuition in Wellington is through Afrikaans).

  • A relevant Doctoral degree in Administrator
  • Evidence of relevant research output
  • Knowledge and understanding of CAPS in the SP & FET Phase
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance and challenges of SP & FET Phase teaching in the 21st century

Job Purpose

To coordinate stakeholder engagement in the Office of the Vice Chancellor through high-level engagement with identified internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely, appropriate and effective communication and responses to all CPUT’s stakeholders as well as special projects’ marketing, communication and stakeholder feedback.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • 4 Year Degree in applicable fields/disciplines, preferably in Communication. OR Public Liaison OR Stakeholder Engagement Management, or Project Management
  • 3 years working as a Liaison Officer/ Stakeholder Engagement Officer /Social Media Manager
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

1. Providing support to projects within the Office of the Vice Chancellor

  • Assist the Office of the Vice-Chancellor with the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of special projects as conceptualized by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.
  • Promoting Special Projects in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.
  • Support Special Projects in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor by arranging video clips, power point presentations and ensuring it reaches the targeted audiences.
  • Develop and maintain projects’ database for the VC’s office.
  • Coordinate the interaction and engagement logistics between the office of the VC and project leaders.
  • Assist the office of the VC with the mapping of stakeholder engagement

2. Coordination of stakeholder engagement

  • Work closely with the VC, his executives and leaders of various internal forums established to drive institutional agenda.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement platforms including but not limited to scheduling, coordination of timelines, flow of documentation and related information between forums and consolidation of related reports.
  • Assist with the stakeholder review process and identification of new stakeholders.
  • Ensure that key stakeholder engagement plans are communicated to all stakeholders and are well coordinated.
  • Provide logistical guidance to all stakeholder to ensure synergy across various forums.

3. Coordination of internal stakeholder engagement

  • Communicate and coordinate activities of special projects within the Office of the VC to internal and external stakeholders and the CPUT website
  • Consolidate input for the regular messaging from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor to internal and external stakeholders and liaise with MCD (e.g. VC’s written or virtual messages to CPUT community, updating his speeches, messages to staff and students, etc.
  • Ensuring that the VC’s office is engaging, responsive and maintains a healthy interaction with the entire CPUT community with its stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the interactive engagements of the VC with relevant internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.

4. Documents and Record management

  • Develop a record keeping system that is in keeping with digital maintenance and safe keeping of documents and records related to stakeholder activities.
  • Collate documentation from various internal and externa stakeholders for the purpose of record keeping and dissemination of information
  • Keep record of various intuitional audits and related documents, and timelines for effective coordination, reporting and related communication thereof.

5. Liaison / communication and highly efficient and timely responses/communication to internal and external stakeholders

  • Coordinate the distribution of e-mails and related communications on behalf of the Office of the VC to internal and external stakeholders as required; including telephonic calls and social media posts as required and for the purposes of maintaining flow of communication with stakeholders.
  • Work with MCD to alert the Office of the VC on social media posts on CPUT which may require his office to respond.
  • Assist and coordinate appropriate CPUT official for responses on social media and other media platforms.
  • Maintains liaison with internal and external clients on behalf of the VC’s Office
  • Liaises with relevant government bodies to provide relevant information to ensure external stakeholders are affair of CPUT’s successes and contribution towards Higher Education in South Africa
  • Liaises with Chairperson of forums and committees of which the VC or his delegate is a member
  • Work with the VC’s Personal Assistant when liaising with Council and board members of organizations of which the VC is a member.
  • Assist the Office of the VC in facilitating the handling and channeling of complaints from staff members, students and community members.
  • Uses own initiative in handling of responses to complaints from stakeholders such as community leaders, students leaders or union leaders raised with the office of the VC.

6. Internal and External Stakeholder Engagement Relationships

  • Projects a professional image of the Office of the VC through in-person and phone interaction as required
  • Assist with organizing online /virtual functions and engagements for the VC as required
