Detailed Job Description

Full Job Description

Why do people call us the world’s most international company? Is it because we operate in more countries than any other logistics provider? Is it because we invented cross border shipping over 45 years ago? Or is it, perhaps, because what we do connects people across the world. And the more we can connect people, the better life on earth becomes.

We love our role in the world. And we’re looking for the right people to help us maintain – and grow it. People like you.

Role Context

The primary purpose of the job is to conduct systematic and periodic evaluations of the Network’s compliance with internal DHL Safety, Quality and Security Standards as well as external ones set by various Regulatory Authorities.

The job holder will also support the implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) within SSA. He/she will be responsible to administer accident and incident data on a regional level, manage and oversee the progress of safety investigations, and manage the distribution of safety information.

Key responsibilities

  • The job holder primarily deals with the period audits of the relevant DHL and third party operations against the standard checklists which are in line with DHL Manuals as well as those standards set by regulatory authorities. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Drawing up audit plans that include setting and agreeing on audit schedule dates, sending audit checklists in advance, and setting times for related audit meetings, interviews, and observations.
  • Conducting the on-site audits to ensure all relevant quality, safety, and security procedures and standards are adequately implemented.
  • Producing reports for all audits describing the audit outcome, non-conformities (if applicable), and clearly highlighting areas of concern and/or visible improvement.
  • Following-up post-audit with all relevant parties to ensure the root causes for non-conformities have been identified and adequate corrective actions have been formulated and implemented leading to the audit closure in a timely manner.
  • Escalating safety, quality and security concerns to the relevant AVI and DHL Express Regional Management.
  • Provide direct input and expertise to assist the network airlines, third party wet lease operators and ground handling agents to achieve DHL Global Airside standards.
  • Update to maintain the document library for ISAGO certifications, RA3 validations, DG Audit reports, and other relevant documents for the SSA Region.
  • Update and maintain the station distribution lists for Qpulse occurrence reports and investigations.
  • Actively promote the DHL Safety Policy and Just Culture across the SSA Region.
  • Maximize safety effectiveness in SSA by managing the distribution of relevant safety information. Lead safety communication throughout the region that celebrates success and provide support and necessary resources to operational challenges.
  • Draft and publish Quality and Safety bulletins related to ground handling.
  • Administer and manage the Qpulse reporting and investigation tool on a regional level and ensure that all ground operations data is current and accurate.
  • Conduct risk assessments to determine the level of occurrence investigation required and oversee the progress and output of investigations as well as the effectiveness of safety risk control measures.
  • Follow-up and ensure that safety investigations are completed within the allocated time frame and internal safety performance KPIs met.
  • Analyse Quality & Safety data to enable risk assessments of high risk areas and provide mitigation solutions with follow up to ensure the risk is reduced or eliminated.
  • Liaise with Global Airside and the Regional Airside Support Teams.
  • Assist the Aviation Ops Support in adhoc assignments and reporting as and when required.
