Detailed Job Description

Job Advert Summary:-

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and continuously monitor regulatory framework and trends applicable to the energy sector, particularly to renewable energy business, both nationally and regionally
  • Support Head of Department in identifying regulatory trends for assessment of economic and financial impact of regulation in support of business growth strategy
  • Coordinate inputs from relevant business units to ensure they provide contributions on policy and regulatory matters
  • Draft submission in response to regulatory and policy consultations
  • Contribute to the preparation and submission of regulatory reports to the Regulator
  • Contribute to analyses of specific documentation to pursue business development initiatives (tender documentation, power purchase agreements, etc)
  • Keep EGP abreast on regulatory and policy developments in the electricity markets both locally and abroad
  • Liaise with key institutional stakeholders to fully understand regulatory developments and anticipate (where possible) future regulatory trends
Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • B-degree (Economics, Commerce, Law, Business Science or Engineering)
  • At least 4 Years’ experience in similar position preferably within the Energy Sector
  • Having worked with or within a regulatory authority is advantageous (energy sector experience an added advantage)
  • Knowledge of energy sector, specifically electricity industry
  • Firm grasp of the South African electricity regulatory and policy framework and understanding of regional (Southern Africa) electricity industry
