The purpose of the Intermediary Java Developer:
Our development engineers at Interfront release new code multiple times a day. We are looking for someone to join the DevOps team to help automate and support the tools and processes relating to continuous delivery/integration/deployment, test-driven development, and agile best-practices.
This role places a heavy emphasis on both maintaining and improving a complex continuous integration and release solution and providing support to a large team of developers and testers involved in our complex, multi-project, Java-based product suite and projects.
Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Design, development, implementation, migration and support of a comprehensive build and release management process and technical solution to support the development processes, using existing tools as a starting point, but building on the same or other open source, and possibly commercial tools, moving forward.
- Support the adoption of Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development, and Agile best practices, processes, and tools.
- Design and develop features for build and test and deployment systems (from development stage to production).
- Perform support and maintenance and troubleshooting of the various development tools / systems.
- Ensure the uptime and availability and performance of all components of the solution.
- Support program and project specific requirements that may arise.
- Perform system build and release when assistance is required – this is key to identifying areas of improvement.
- Scan, monitor and alert all security vulnerabilities in our developed code
- Mitigate security vulnerabilities tin the Development environment
- Perform Database related task i.e. Installation , monitoring, tuning, Data migration etc.
- Some afterhours work will be required from time to time.
Minimum Requirements:
- B.Sc or B.Eng in Computer Science, or ND:IT or relevant work experience
- 3+ years of experience in an enterprise IT development environment
- Understanding of DevOps – Automation, Scripting, building CI/CD pipelines
- 2+ years of experience in Linux based operating systems
- 2+ years of experience in bash scripting
Experience and skills with the following technologies is advantageous:
- Experience with a provisioning tool like ansible, puppet or chef
- Solid understanding of networking
- Experience using IBM WebSphere and WSADMIN scripting
- Experience in the role of a DB2 DBA
- Experience in the role of DevSecOps
- Experience in cybercrime countermeasures and cyber security assessments
- Experience in firewalling/security
- Experience in code scanning for security vulnerabilities
- Experience in software security tools like Sonar, Fisheye, Nexus Lifecycle
- Experience working with an artifact repository like Nexus or Artifactory
- Experience in working with Jenkins
- Experience in working with Git
- Experience in working with Jira/bitbucket/confluence
- Experience in working with Docker
- Experience in working with Cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
- Experience in working with XL-deploy
- Experience in working with Graphing/logging (Kibana, grafana, logstash)

The purpose of the Junior Project Manager:
AAn opportunity has come up for an junior project manager working in the software industry and knows they want to remain in the software industry and mature into a competent and confident software project manager. The junior PM will at first shadow a project manager to learn the Interfront way of working, get to know the people working at Interfront and assist a project manager in delivering on production releases. Next, the candidate will move into a SCRUM master type role, working with a project manager to manage and refine backlogs for production before moving into managing a production release end to end.
The junior project manager will be expected to report to the head of PMO, contribute to growing the efficiency of the PMO and offer suggestions on ways to improve the ways of working within the PMO.
Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Manage and refine JIRA backlog
- Collaborate with a Business Analyst or Systems Engineer to define the requirements for a ticket. The developers and testers will use the requirement to estimate.
- Engage with the client to assess their priorities from a backlog of Jira tickets
- Host JIRA ticket effort estimation sessions
- Facilitate the planning and scope definition for a production release
- Ensure JIRA tickets planned into a production release are kept up-to-date with progress
- Communicate with the client as to the scope for a production release
- Host regular communication sessions with the team to gauge progress for a release
- Facilitate resolution of issues reported by the team
- Where necessary, define a WBS and create a project plan in MS Project for a production release
- Set up JIRA projects, create Jira tickets, update JIRA tickets
- Foster relationships across disciplines and with management.
- Demonstrate a willingness to understand the workings of the PMO and to improve the workings of the PMO.
- Demonstrate a willingness to understand the products.
- Demonstrate a willingness to understand the Interfront software release process and become enabled to manage a release to the client.
Minimum Requirements:
- Tertiary level education and relevant work experience
- Proven track record of 2 -3 years working in the software industry as either of the following; a Project Manager of any level, a Scrum Master of any level, a developer, a tester or a BA.
- A proven understanding of the Software Delivery Life Cycle
- Experience working with JIRA
