Job Advert Summary:-

Main Purpose:

Mandatory – French speaking. South African Resident/Citizen. Physical oil products operations and trader support. Co-ordinates all aspects of the post-deal trading activity to ensure contract execution runs smoothly. Provide commercial/market information to the trader as necessary.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in trading oil operations
  • French / English as working languages
  • Competently escalates safety and / or business issues promptly to CoM
  • Operational and technical ability to handle day-to-day operations associated with their product desk as well as to lead the other ops employees on that bench
  • Efficient problem solver with strong interpersonal skills; high standards of professionalism and resilient under pressure.
  • Knowledgeable of operational procedures, policies, industry standards, technical shipping and maritime terminology, as well as commercial shipping law and the impact on oil cargo operations; can anticipate and forecast costs accurately, taking action to minimise and reduce costs proactively
  • Has a superior understanding of petroleum product specifications, analytical methods, laboratory precision and inspection procedures.  Applies understanding to minimise financial impact of problems arising

  • Driving a consistent approach to operations
  • Monitoring Operator adherence to group and operations procedures and guidelines
  • Notifying CoM of safety and business issues on a prompt basis, considering the scope of exposure when escalating
  • Ensuring written reporting is delivered to CoM and up to RoM level, in line with RoM requirements
  • Developing more junior members of the team via departmental training, development and recruitment strategies

Main Purpose:

  • Leads the Moso (method of site operation) strategy to ensure the optimal model of operation is defined for each market
  • Defines and develops the optimal attributes for each moso, in particular the franchise model

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Defines the strategy and tactics to select the most effective moso decision by market and by station

2, Supports the implementation of the moso strategy in each market and measures success

3. Defines and optimizes each model of operation through attributes (cstore, fuels, operations, contract, …) in order to grow the sales on site and optimize direct and indirect revenues for Puma

4. Develops an attractive and efficient franchise value proposition

5. Develops all essential document, contract, operating manual, platform, training in order to make each moso, and in particular the franchise model, the most effective and attractive in each relevant market

6. Engages internal stakeholders or external third parties to carry out the franchise value proposition

7. Adapts or develops the appropriate contractual models for each moso

8. Defines the financial elements of each model (royalty, fee) and optimizes revenues for Puma Energy

9. Collaborates with stakeholders in the retail coe and the retail organization to define operational standards by type of site (site p/l, operational cost standards, franchisee earning matrix)

10. Proposes options to maximize franchise revenues for Puma in potential new markets by using the franchise model

11. KPIs: ebitda/site, ebitda / sqm, Fuels volume, store sales, rent, royalties

 

Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years experience in franchise management or similar role in the retail sector
  • Experience in global organisations operating in Africa and / or Americas and emerging markets would be an advantage
